Dentist Julia Kitzmann has been working as a dentist since her final exam in 2012 at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Her specialism is periodontology with a particular focus on the management of modifiable risk factors. Since 2015, she has been researching the use of motivational interviewing (MI) in dentistry for her thesis at the University of Freiburg and in her daily work. She was trained in MI at the Institute for Psychology of the Technical University of Brunswick and in PA at the Dental Chamber of Hamburg. Since 2016, she has been a certified member of the German Association for Motivational Interviewing (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Motivierende Gesprächsführung e.V.). She is also a lecturer for MI in dentistry.
